Dr. Chris Heskett Named Lone Finalist
The Slidell ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Chris Heskett as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools during a special meeting on May 29, 2025. By state law, the Board must wait 21 days before it can vote to officially hire him as the new superintendent. Dr. Heskett's three-year employment contract begins approximately July 1, 2025. He will be spending some time in the district in June to facilitate a smooth transition.
“The Board is very excited about the experience he brings to our district,” said Tim Fletcher, SISD President. “He has been a Superintendent for eight years and is very knowledgeable in finance and the leadership it takes for our district to continue in the direction we are so proud of.”
Dr. Heskett has 31 years of experience in education, with the last 8 years serving as the Superintendent at Covington ISD. Prior to that, he served 9 years as High School Principal at nearby Valley View ISD. He has administrative experience at the elementary and middle school levels as well. Considering himself a lifelong learner, he earned his Ed.D at Lamar University in 2016, a master's degree in education from Midwestern State University in 2001, and obtained his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Midwestern State University in 1991.
The Heskett family looks forward to becoming a part of the Slidell community! Let's give them a big greyhound welcome! 🐾
